Mavs win 1st, hold Bucks to 1 in OT

Har­ri­son Barnes scored a ca­reer-high 34 points and the Mav­er­icks lim­ited the Bucks to one point in over­time, win­ning their first game of the sea­son 86-75 on Sun­day in Dal­las.

J.J. Barea added 21 points, six re­bounds and five as­sists, and An­drew Bogut hauled in 16 re­bounds.

Barnes’ driv­ing layup with 13 sec­onds left in reg­u­la­tion forced over­time.

The Bucks had 27 turnovers. Their only point of OT came on a free throw by Gian­nis An­te­tok­oun­mpo, who to­taled 11 points. Jabari Parker’s 16 points led the Bucks.

CJ McCol­lum matched his ca­reer high with 37 points to lead the Trail Blaz­ers past the Griz­zlies 100-94. McCol­lum also matched his ca­reer best with six 3-point­ers. ... Gor­don Hay­ward, who broke his right ring fin­ger in train­ing camp, scored 28 points in his sea­son de­but as the Jazz beat the Knicks 114-109. ... LeBron James moved into 10th place on the NBA’s ca­reer scor­ing list with 25 points in the un­beaten Cava­liers’ 102-101 vic­tory over the 76ers on Satur­day night. Ola­ju­won had 26,946 points. James now has 26,970. ... Pel­i­cans G Lance Stephen­son will need surgery to re­pair a groin in­jury.
