Five people were shot — two fatally — in separate incidents in Baltimore County between Monday night and Tuesday, police said.

Police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds and lying in the road in the 6000 block of Liberty Road in the Lochearn area about 9:15 p.m. Monday. A second shooting victim was found outside a gas station nearby. Both died. Police said they believe the victims were targeted.

“It is horrible that we can continue to be plagued by this violence all around us,” said Baltimore County Councilman Julian Jones, who represents the area. “It’s just crazy that we allow society to be so flush with guns and violence that this is where we are.”

Jones said constituents have contacted his office recently to report suspicious activity in the area where the men were shot, and he has encouraged them to call police.

Still, he said, “I’m shocked and appalled that this violence is here.”

Police did not release the names of the victims. About two dozen people have been killed this year in Baltimore County.

In another incident Monday night, a pizza deliveryman was shot while working in the Randallstown area. Jones also represents that area.

Police said the man was hit at least once in the lower body after “a brief verbal exchange” with a suspect in the 4000 block of Sanlee Road around 10 p.m.

The man drove himself back to the pizza shop before he was taken to a hospital, police said. Police expect the man to survive. They did not release his name.

The suspect, who police believe was targeting the pizza deliveryman, ran from the scene, police said.

Two people were shot in Essex on Tuesday morning. Police said that incident started with an argument in a hallway between apartments in the 1400 block of Browning Drive.

Two men were found with gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body. They were taken to a hospital, where they were listed in serious condition.

County Councilman Todd Crandall, who represents the Essex area, said he was “disturbed” by the shootings around the county.

“I am thankful that these types of incidents are a rarity in Baltimore County,” he said. “The chronology is certainly disturbing, and I’m thankful that that’s not the trend in Baltimore County.”

Police asked anyone with information on the shootings to call 410-307-2020.
