Hen­son to host Fox hol­i­day va­ri­ety show

Rec­og­niz­ing that it’s just not a hol­i­day sea­son with­out a net­work-hosted va­ri­ety show, Fox has an­nounced it is again calling on its hit drama “Em­pire” for fes­tive feel­ings with “Taraji’s White Hot Hol­i­days,” which will be hosted by star Taraji P. Hen­son.

Hen­son, who co-hosted “Taraji and Ter­rence’s White Hot Hol­i­days” in 2015 on the net­work with co-star Ter­rence Howard, will lead the one-hour spe­cial, which again will tilt heav­ily to­ward mu­si­cal per­for­mances.

Phar­rell Wil­liams, Missy El­liott, Ali­cia Keys, Dar­ryl McDaniels of Run-DMC, Snoop Dogg and TLC are con­firmed to of­fer in­ter­pre­ta­tions of hol­i­day songs, along with ap­pear­ances by “Brook­lyn Nine-Nine” star Terry Crews, Hen­son’s “Em­pire” co-star Jussie Smol­lett, Taye Diggs and Tyler Perry.

This year, Hen­son was again nom­i­nated for an Emmy for her por­trayal of Cookie Lyon on “Em­pire,” which was her sec­ond con­sec­u­tive act­ing nom­i­na­tion for the role. She will also star with Janelle Monae and Oc­tavia Spencer in the up­com­ing fea­ture film “Hid­den Fig­ures,” which will be re­leased on Christ­mas Day.

“Taraji’s White Hot Hol­i­days” will air Dec. 8.
