Dennis Schroder scored a ca­reer-high 28 points and the Hawks handed the Cava­liers their first loss of the sea­son, 110-106, on Tues­day night in Cleve­land.

The de­fend­ing NBA cham­pi­ons cut a 96-81 deficit early in the fourth quar­ter to 101-97 on LeBron James’ bas­ket with 3 min­utes, 14 sec­onds to play. The Hawks scored the next six points, but 3-poin­t­ers by James and Kyrie Irv­ing (29 points) made it 106-103 with 48 sec­onds left.

The Hawks led by two when Kent Baze­more (25 points) hit a cor­ner jumper with seven sec­onds left to put the game away.

Three days af­ter see­ing his NBA-record streak of 157 games with at least one 3-pointer end, two-time de­fend­ing MVP Stephen Curry es­tab­lished a sin­gle-game mark by hit­ting 13 3s on Mon­day night in the War­riors’ 116-106 vic­tory over the Pel­i­cans. Curry, who went 13-for-17 from be­hind the arc and fin­ished with 46 points, shared the pre­vi­ous record of 12 with Kobe Bryant and Donyell Mar­shall. ...
