Man found fa­tally shot in Cherry Hill

A 27-year-old man was shot and killed in the Cherry Hill neigh­bor­hood of South Bal­ti­more on Wed­nes­day night, po­lice said. The man was found around 9:15 p.m. in the 2900 block of Cher­ry­land Road with gun­shot wounds to his back. He was pro­nounced dead at a hospi­tal at about 10 p.m. Po­lice said the shoot­ing stemmed from a fight that hap­pened nearby ear­lier. In a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent, a man was shot in the leg in South­west Bal­ti­more. Po­lice found the 42-yearold vic­tim around 8:20 p.m. in the 400 block of S. Long­wood Street in the Gwynns Falls neigh­bor­hood. Po­lice said the shoot­ing hap­pened af­ter an al­ter­ca­tion. Po­lice had no more de­tails on the shoot­ings. Howard County to in­stall snow­plow-track­ing sys­tem

Howard County will spend $44,000 to launch a new “cut­ting-edge” snow­plow-track­ing sys­tem in mid-De­cem­ber, re­plac­ing one the county has used for more than a decade, County Ex­ec­u­tive Al­lan H. Kit­tle­man an­nounced Tues­day. The county’s fleet of Depart­ment of Pub­lic Works ve­hi­cles will be out­fit­ted with152 au­to­matic ve­hi­cle lo­ca­tors de­signed by AT&T and BSM Tech­nolo­gies. An­other 25 “plug-and-play” lo­ca­tors can be in­stalled in con­trac­tor ve­hi­cles, feed­ing data to the same sys­tem to give the pub­lic a bet­ter look at snow-re­moval progress. The cost con­sists of an ini­tial $32,400 to de­velop a web­site for the sys­tem and an an­nual $12,000 in main­te­nance. Af­ter
