Stadium authority rejects Frederick center

Baltimore Sun - - MARYLAND WORLD -

The Maryland Stadium Authority has voted against an agreement with the city and county for a planned hotel and conference center in downtown Frederick. The authority voted Monday not to sign a memorandum of understanding that laid out financing plans and a schedule for the $84 million project. Supporters sought bond funding through the authority during the 2016 legislative session. Last month, a majority of the city Board of Aldermen and County Council passed the agreement, but it still required approval from the stadium authority and Maryland Economic Development Corp. MSA Chairman Thomas Kelso said in a statement Tuesday that there’s no owner for the project, and no financing, and that the current agreement had no clear role for the authority.
