Democrats can rebound
The election is over, and it’s time to congratulate President-elect Donald Trump. There will soon come a time when the Democratic Party comes together nationally to figure out where we go from here.
Here’s what we learned about Maryland and Baltimore County voters: after the 2014 election when the GOP made inroads in the state and county, weoverwhelmingly rejected the candidates that the GOP had to offer this year. Our Democratic candidates were successful because they offered hope and solutions. They were supported by a tremendous amount of volunteers who worked polling places, provided transportation for the elderly and disabled to the polls, made phone calls, and knocked on doors. We were stronger together and united like never before.
It is too early to know the results of our national “autopsy,” but the DNC should look to Maryland and Baltimore County to breathe life back into the party.
