Sun ignores Breeders Cup

Baltimore Sun - - FROM PAGE ONE - George Hammerbacher

I was disappointed Saturday to open The Sun sports page and see no coverage of the Breeders Cup Program at Santa Anita Park. Kevin Plank is trying to rebuild a racing industry at Sagamore Farms. He is attempting to revive an industry that is close to being on life support in the state of Maryland. Maryland was once a highly respected state that had a true thoroughbred breeding industry as a state resource. All The Sun had on the Breeders Cup was an afterthought blurb in the miscellaneous column on page two on the Distaff results from Friday. When it comes right down to it, there are only four days per year where horse racing coverage is a must (in my opinion). Thus, covering Breeders Cup Day and the Triple Crown Season are all The Sun has to do for each year. I remember when The Sun had its own racing page and racing writers
