Dominion investigating Cove Point noose incident

Baltimore Sun - - MARYLAND NATION -

North America’s Building Trades Unions are offering a $100,000 reward to anyone with information about an incident involving a noose at the Dominion Cove Point LNG project site. Union and company officials declined to offer details about the incident. Dominion and IHI-Kiewit, the joint venture between construction contractors IHI E&C and Kiewit Energy Corp. tapped to expand the liquefied natural gas site near Lusby, condemned the incident and said in a statement they are investigating it. “It is the policy of both Dominion and IHI-Kiewit that harassment in any form is unacceptable,” the companies said in the statement. In a Nov. 8 letter to Kiewit, copied to Dominion and others, North America’s Building Trades Unions President Sean McGarvey described the incident as “disturbing and unacceptable.” He also called on Dominion and its contractors to find the person responsible. The union was unavailable for additional comment. Dominion said it cannot share details about investigations.
