Camden Yards slated for improvement projects

Baltimore Sun - - FROM PAGE ONE - — Jeff Barker

As Oriole Park at Camden Yards turns 25 next year, a few improvements are in the works. The Maryland Stadium Authority has signed contracts to upgrade lighting and heating in the ballpark. The authority also approved replacing carpeting on the club level but had not executed that contract as of last week. Musco Sports Lighting, an Iowa company, signed a contract worth up to $1.67 million with the authority on Oct. 3 to demolish existing lighting and install new LED sports lighting. It signed a $469,500 contract with Ariosa and Co., a Maryland company, to replace the ballpark’s “heat trace” system. The playing surface at Camden Yards is also being replaced — the first time since 2008 that the grass is being swapped out. The contracts were obtained under a Public Information Act request filed with the authority, which is the team’s landlord on behalf of the state.
