Brady pokes fun at ‘De­flate­gate’

With his “De­flate­gate” sus­pen­sion be­hind him, Tom Brady is mak­ing fun of the scan­dal in a new Foot Locker com­mer­cial.

The ad be­gins with two Foot Locker cus­tomers ques­tion­ing how the shoe re­tailer’s an­nual Thanks­giv­ing sale could con­tinue to be great year af­ter year. A frus­trated Brady over­hears the con­ver­sa­tion and tells the men, “Just be­cause some­thing is great year af­ter year doesn’t mean any­thing is go­ing on.” He then says such ques­tions “turn into as­sump­tions, and then as­sump­tions turn into va­ca­tions.”

Brady closes the com­mer­cial by ask­ing why Foot Locker should be pun­ished “for some­thing that never even hap­pened.”

The Pa­tri­ots quar­ter­back served a four-game sus­pen­sion to start the sea­son af­ter an NFL in­ves­ti­ga­tion con­cluded the team in­ten­tion­ally un­der­in­flated foot­balls used in the 2015 AFC cham­pi­onship game. NBC us­ing Tirico: Mike Tirico will re­place Al Michaels as NBC’s playby-play an­nouncer for four prime-time NFL games.

Tirico, who joined the net­work this sum­mer af­ter han­dling play-by-play du­ties Mon­day nights for ESPN, will work Sun­day night’s Packers-Red­skins matchup. He also will do the Thanks­giv­ing night game be­tween the Steelers and Colts, and the Nov. 27 game be­tween the Chiefs and Bron­cos, part­ner­ing with an­a­lyst Cris Collinsworth. That duo also will han­dle the Dec. 22 GiantsEa­gles matchup. Grif­fin cleared: Browns quar­ter­back Robert Grif­fin III was cleared for non­con­tact drills but isn’t ready to prac­tice.

Grif­fin has been side­lined since break­ing a bone in his left shoul­der in the opener against the Ea­gles. Once he be­gins prac­tic­ing, the Browns will have 21 days to de­cide whether to take Grif­fin off injured re­serve and put him on the ac­tive ros­ter. Ex­tra points: Tex­ans play­ers were ad­vised by the team that for safety and health rea­sons t hey shouldn’t leave the ho­tel or order room ser­vice dur­ing their trip to Mex­ico City for Mon­day night’s game against the Raiders. ...
