TierPoint ex­pands Baltimore data cen­ter

TierPoint LLC has com­pleted an ex­pan­sion and up­grade of its Baltimore data cen­ter, part of $45 mil­lion in ex­pan­sions this year across its net­work of 39 U.S. data cen­ters. TierPoint said it added 3,000 square feet to its 30,000-square-foot fa­cil­ity, lo­cated near M&T Bank Sta­dium, as well as es­tab­lish­ing an un­in­ter­rupted power sup­ply for the site. It de­scribed the fa­cil­ity as one of the largest car­rier-neu­tral data cen­ters in the state. The Baltimore ex­pan­sion is the smaller of two TierPoint said it com­pleted at a cost of $13 mil­lion. The other added 12,500 square feet to a cen­ter in Marl­bor­ough, Mass., bring­ing it to 215,000 square feet. TierPoint said it al­ready is con­sid­er­ing fur­ther ex­pan­sion in the Baltimore mar­ket in 2017, cit­ing strong de­mand for the newly ex­panded server space.
