No sanctuary for illegal immigrants

Baltimore Sun - - WORLD - J. Shawn Alcarese, Towson

Declaring that the election of Presidentelect Donald Trump creates “a very scary environment for new Americans,” Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie RawlingsBlake reaffirmed Baltimore City as a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants (“Mayor: Baltimore is a ’welcoming city’ for immigrants and refugees,” Nov. 18). But illegal immigrants aren’t Americans, and Ms. Rawlings-Blake knows that. Nor would a scary environment exist if the immigrants were legal, as they would not be breaking the law by being in this country. Lastly, Ms. Rawlings-Blake claims the immigration laws are broken and “everyone ... recognizes that.” Federal immigration laws aren’t broken, they are being willfully disregarded and disobeyed by our current president, his administration officials, and numerous local officials around the country in the hope that the millions of illegals pouring into this country will become the next Democratic Party voting block.
