After hit, Luke Kuechly back in protocol
All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly was placed in the league’s concussion protocol and his status for the Panthers’ Nov. 27 game against the Raiders is uncertain.
The 2013 Defensive Player of the Year was carted off the field during the fourth quarter of the Panthers’ 23-20 win over the Saints on Thursday night after colliding with running back Tim Hightower.
Kuechly spent 34 days last season in the concussion protocol and missed three games. Extra points: All-Pro TE Rob Gronkowski will miss the Patriots’ game at the 49ers because of the chest injury he suffered last weekend. Gronkowski was staggered during the second quarter of the game after taking a hard hit from S Earl Thomas. ... Browns QB Robert Griffin III will practice next week and it remains possible he’ll play again this season. He has been sidelined with a broken bone in his left shoulder since the season opener. ... C Mike Pouncey likely will miss Sunday’s game at the Rams. Pouncey was listed as doubtful after reinjuring his surgically repaired left hip during practice this week. ... WR DeSean Jackson is questionable for the Redskins’ game against the Packers because of a shoulder injury.
