Mount edges Ge­orge Ma­son

Chris Wray had 21 points and 10 re­bounds and his dunk with a sec­ond left in over­time lifted Mount St. Mary’s over host Ge­orge Ma­son, 78-76, on Fri­day night.

The Pa­tri­ots’ Justin Kier hit two free throws to tie the score at 76 with 29 sec­onds left in over­time be­fore Eli­jah Long stole the ball from him and the Moun­taineers called a time­out. Wray got the dunk off the in­bounds and a steal as time ex­pired.

Wray’s double double were ca­reer highs, and Mount St. Mary’s (1-3) out­re­bounded Ge­orge Ma­son (1-2) by 15. Miles Wil­son scored a ca­reer-high 12 points on 5-for-10 shoot­ing off the bench, and Long and Ju­nior Robin­son each added 11.

The Moun­taineers led 38-37 at half­time, but the Pa­tri­ots’ Otis Liv­ingston II hit a 3-pointer with seven sec­onds left to tie the score at 70at the end­ofreg­u­la­tion.

Jalen Jenk­ins had 23 points and 11 re­bounds and Marquis Moore scored 19 with13 re­bounds for Ge­orge Ma­son.

NOTRE DAME 83, LOY­OLA MARY­LAND 48: V.J. Beachem scored 21 points and team­mate Bonzie Col­son added 19 as the Fighting Ir­ish (3-0) coasted past the vis­it­ing Grey­hounds (1-3).

An­dre Walker, An­drew Kostecka, Jarred Jones and James Fives each scored eight points for Loy­ola.

NORTH DAKOTA STATE 66, NAVY 59: Dex­ter Werner scored 14 points and the Bi­son (3-0) beat the Mid­ship­men (1-2) in the High Point Tour­na­ment.

Werner was 6-for-9 from the field and had four of his team’s 10 steals. Tyson Wade, who had a pair of 3-point­ers, added 12 points for North Dakota State.

UTAH 94, COP­PIN STATE 51: The host Utes (3-0) cruised past the Ea­gles (0-5) for their third con­sec­u­tive 40-plus-point vic­tory.

Lorenzo Bonam scored 19 points for Utah, which has won its first three games by a com­bined 130 points.

Tre’ Thomas, De­juan Clay­ton and Keith Shiv­ers scored a team-high 10 apiece for Cop­pin State.
