Wash­ing­ton tops Wash. St., moves on to Pac-12 ti­tle game

Jake Brown­ing threw for 292 yards and three touch­downs and No. 5 Wash­ing­ton used a 28-point first quar­ter to beat No. 23 Wash­ing­ton State on Fri­day in Pull­man, win­ning the Ap­ple Cup for the fourth straight year and the Pac-12 North ti­tle.

Wash­ing­ton will take its Col­lege Foot­ball Play­off hopes into the Pac-12 cham­pi­onship game Fri­day against Colorado or South­ern Cal­i­for­nia.

The Huskies (11-1, 8-1) tied a school record with the 28-point first quar­ter, cap­i­tal­iz­ing on an early turnover to put the Cougars (8-4, 7-2) into a 14-point hole.

IOWA 40, NO. 16 NE­BRASKA 10: C.J. Beathard threw three touch­down passes and the host Hawkeyes (8-4, 6-3) knocked the Corn­huskers (9-3, 6-3) out of Big Ten ti­tle con­tention and sent Wis­con­sin to the cham­pi­onship game.

AIR FORCE 27, NO. 19 BOISE STATE 20: The host Fal­cons had a late goal-line stand, Tyler Weaver re­turned a blocked punt 11 yards for a touch­down and the Fal­cons (9-3, 5-3 Moun­tain West) beat the Bron­cos (10-2, 6-2), end­ing Boise State’s bid for the Moun­tain West ti­tle.

MEM­PHIS 48, NO. 20 HOUS­TON 44: Ri­ley Fer­gu­son threw a10-yard touch­down pass to Anthony Miller with19 sec­onds left to lift the host Tigers (8-4, 5-3 Amer­i­can Ath­letic) past the Cougars (9-3, 5-3), who had ral­lied from a 17-point deficit.

NO. 21 W. MICHI­GAN 55, TOLEDO 35: Corey Davis and the host Bron­cos (12-0, 8-0) wrapped up an un­de­feated reg­u­lar sea­son in style, rout­ing the Rock­ets (9-3, 6-2) to se­cure a berth in the Mid-Amer­i­can Con­fer­ence cham­pi­onship game against Ohio on Fri­day night.
