Man killed, an­other in­jured in An­napo­lis shoot­ing

One man was killed and an­other in­jured in a shoot­ing on Clay Street in An­napo­lis on Satur­day night, po­lice said. Scotty Moss Jr., 24, of An­napo­lis died of gun­shot wounds, po­lice said. He is the city’s 10th homi­cide vic­tim of the year. An­napo­lis has had more homi­cides in 2016 than any year in its his­tory. Of­fi­cers re­sponded to the first block of Clay St. at 10:24 p.m. for mul­ti­ple re­ports of shots fired, po­lice said, and found two shoot­ing vic­tims. A 34-year-old man from Glen Burnie suf­fered wounds that were not deemed lifethreat­en­ing, po­lice said. He was taken to Mary­land Shock Trauma Cen­ter. The Clay Street area has been the scene of sev­eral re­ports of shots fired this year. In Septem­ber, Walter “Buck” Bryan Jr. died af­ter he was shot out­side his home on Pleas­ant Street, near where the road in­ter­sects with Clay Street. Fire per­son­nel were called at 8:25 p.m. to the 800 block of South Broad­way, where the man suf­fered third­de­gree burns — the most se­ri­ous— to 50 per­cent of his body, said fire spokesman Ro­man Clark. The man was taken to a hos­pi­tal, Clark said. Fire in­ves­ti­ga­tors re­sponded, and Clark said the in­ci­dent re­mains un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion. The cir­cum­stances of how the man was burned were not im­me­di­ately known.
