Pasadena woman charged in grandmother’s stabbing
A woman was arrested and charged with stabbing her 82-year- old grandmother Sunday morning in Pasadena, Anne Arundel County police said. Savannah Esperson Weaver, 20, of Second Street in Pasadena was charged with attempted second-degree murder and assault, police said. As of Monday morning, Weaver was being held at a local hospital for evaluation, county police said. A lawyer for Weaver could not be found in online court records. Officers responded to the 500 block of Second St. around 7:25 a.m. after a family member reported that Weaver had stabbed her grandmother. The family member was not present when the stabbing occurred, police said. Police arrived to find the grandmother suffering from multiple stab wounds. Weaver was taken into custody at the scene, police said. She stabbed her grandmother in an effort to “cut the demons out of her,” according to police. The victim was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she was treated and released.
