Pasadena woman charged in grand­mother’s stab­bing

A woman was ar­rested and charged with stab­bing her 82-year- old grand­mother Sun­day morn­ing in Pasadena, Anne Arun­del County po­lice said. Savannah Esper­son Weaver, 20, of Sec­ond Street in Pasadena was charged with at­tempted sec­ond-de­gree mur­der and as­sault, po­lice said. As of Mon­day morn­ing, Weaver was be­ing held at a lo­cal hospi­tal for eval­u­a­tion, county po­lice said. A lawyer for Weaver could not be found in on­line court records. Of­fi­cers re­sponded to the 500 block of Sec­ond St. around 7:25 a.m. af­ter a fam­ily mem­ber re­ported that Weaver had stabbed her grand­mother. The fam­ily mem­ber was not present when the stab­bing oc­curred, po­lice said. Po­lice ar­rived to find the grand­mother suf­fer­ing from mul­ti­ple stab wounds. Weaver was taken into cus­tody at the scene, po­lice said. She stabbed her grand­mother in an ef­fort to “cut the demons out of her,” ac­cord­ing to po­lice. The vic­tim was taken to Mary­land Shock Trauma Cen­ter in Bal­ti­more, where she was treated and re­leased.
