In the heady af­ter­math of their shutout vic­tory in Cincin­nati on Sun­day, there was a rush to an­a­lyze just what as­pect of the Ravens’ sea­son-open­ing per­for­mance was most im­por­tant to the sur­vival of the species.

Was it the healthy and suc­cess­ful re­turn of Joe Flacco? That cer­tainly rates right up there and un­doubt­edly evoked a huge sigh of re­lief for Ravens fans who were fret­ting about all the prac­tice and play­ing time he missed dur­ing the pre­sea­son.

The run­ning game?
