MLB added Dodgers RHP Ross Stripling to the NL roster to replace the Cardinals’ Miles Mikolas, who is scheduled to pitch the Sunday before the All-Star Game. ... Aguilar, Cubs 2B Javier Baez and OF Kyle Schwarber, Phillies OF Rhys Hoskins, Astros 3B Alex Bregman, Nationals OF Bryce Harper, Braves 1B Freddie Freeman and Dodgers 1B Max Muncy were selected for the Home Run Derby.

Indians: Manager Terry Francona admitted there was a communicat­ion breakdown after his bullpen allowed seven runs in the ninth inning of a 7-4 loss Tuesday night to the Reds. Francona wanted to bring in LHP Oliver Perez to face Joey Votto with two outs and the bases loaded with the Indians clinging to a 4-3 lead. But pitching coach Carl Willis thought he heard Francona tell him to summon RHP Dan Otero. Votto promptly hit a three-run double off Otero. ... Jose Ramirez hit two homers and drove in five to help the Indians bounce back in a 19-4 win over the Reds.

Red Sox: Chris Sale struck out 12 in seven innings as the Red Sox won their ninth straight — 4-2 over the Rangers.

Nationals: RHP Stephen Strasburg (shoulder inflammati­on) emerged from his rehab start for Class A Potomac Tuesday night unscathed and is scheduled to make another rehab start Sunday. He will presumably return to the rotation after the All-Star break.

Cubs: 3B Kris Bryant hit a two-run homer in his first game since returning from the DL in a 5-4, 13-inning loss to the Giants. He had been sidelined since June 23 with shoulder inflammati­on.

Braves: All-Star 2B Ozzie Albies hit a pair of homers and drove in four in a 9-5 win over the Blue Jays.

Yankees: Greg Bird hit a grand slam in a five-run third and Tyler Wade hit his first major-league homer in a 9-0 win over the Orioles.
