Not just a place to buy—a place to be. That’s what Ann and Sid Mash­burn wanted to cre­ate when they ex­panded their At­lanta flag­ship store. The cou­ple, known for their epony­mous cloth­ing de­signs and a sig­na­ture style built on luxe ba­sics with a quirky edge (like African beads lay­ered with a clas­sic but­ton-down shirt), al­ready had a mini style em­pire flour­ish­ing in five cities and on­line. In their new space they have room to of­fer hos­pi­tal­ity (there’s a cof­fee bar) and to stock more of the things they love.

Like Al­lyn Scura eye­wear, melamine plates you’d swear were French ceram­ics, and Ann’s first kids’ cloth­ing line (a long­time dream for the mom of five girls). It’s a mix that’s eclec­tic and ob­ses­sively cu­rated, with a hu­man touch that comes through even on­line. “We like hav­ing a big cross sec­tion of cus­tomers,” Sid says. “It makes the store a more in­ter­est­ing com­mu­nity, and even a fun cul­tural cross­roads for peo­ple.”
