Natural air fresheners, citrus is great, always roses

- BY ANN MARIE O’PHEL AN

For natural freshness, consider the mom way … fragrant flowers set in a lovely vase. Colorful blossoms are also nice floating in a crystal bowl.

Cheryl Myers, owner of the Enchanted Florist in Cape Coral, says, “Our bright pink Sorbonne lilies and Pink Floyd roses, as well as our colorful hyacinths, are a few fragrant favorites.”

Scented herbs such as rosemary, lavender and basil can be potted and grown indoors. They can also be dried and tied with twine or ribbon. Also try placing citrus peels such as oranges, tangerines, limes, grapefruits and lemon in a pretty bowl and setting them on the counter. Or simmer peels with cinnamon sticks and drops of vanilla.

Flameless candles are awesome, too. Bill Sommer, the manager of Cape Candle, says, “Wax pottery bowls offer a light fragrance.”

These beautiful bowls come in a variety of scents that include Seascape Sage and Lavender Chamomile.
