N.H. trooper to plead in beating
A New Hampshire state trooper accused of pummeling a car chase suspect is expected to plead guilty to assault charges tomorrow, according to New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster.
Andrew Monaco, 31, is expected to plead guilty in a Nashua courtroom to three counts of simple assault “stemming from his use of force” during the videotaped May 11 arrest of speeding suspect Richard Simone Jr., 50, of Worcester.
Massachusetts state trooper Joseph H. Flynn also faces criminal assault charges. Flynn, who earned $115,507 in 2015, is currently suspended without pay and undergoing an internal affairs investigation.
“We will review his duty status following the completion of the New Hampshire case and our internal case,” spokesman David Procopio said.
