System is broken
I usually enjoy Joe Fitzgerald’s columns. But his “Hold your nose at the polls” piece, while entertaining, would just keep this country wallowing in the Democrat/Republican pit of despair for decades to come (“Our pathetic choice for prez,” Oct. 12).
Fitzgerald should be peddling something more positive, forward-thinking and gutsy.
Instead of lamenting the notso-presidential 2016 options; instead of telling readers they must acquiesce and choose the lesser of two evils, Fitzgerald could be telling them that the time is ripe to leave the past behind. The country must face up to its problems.
And when it comes down to it, the political establishment that is the two-party system is broken beyond repair. — Lorie Seadale, Barton, Vt.
