“She has also created the Clara Lionel Foundation Scholarship Program (named for her grandmother and grandfather) for students attending college in the U.S. from Caribbean countries, and supports the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project, a multiyear campaign which will provide children with access to education in more than 60 developing countries, giving priority to girls, and those affected by lack of access to education in the world today,” Counter said.
Rihanna will receive the Harvard Foundation's Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award at a ceremony Tuesday in Memorial Hall's Sanders Theatre. The “Work” and “Rude Boy” singer is in great company — other winners of the award include actor James Earl Jones, U.N. Secretaries General Ban Ki-moon, Kofi Annan, Boutros Boutros-Ghali and Javier Perez de Cuellar; gender rights advocate Malala Yousafzai; actor Ruby Dee; athlete Arthur Ashe; and farm worker rights advocate Dolores Huerta, to name a few.
And none of them also launched a makeup line to boot — Rihanna's comes out in the fall.
