A 23-year-old Canton woman is facing a drunken-driving charge in Rhode Island after allegedly getting behind the wheel with a blood-alcohol content that was more than five times the legal limit.

State troopers responding to multiple calls reporting an erratic driver in Johnston, R.I., pulled over Elizabeth Salah about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday near exit 6 on Route 6, Rhode Island state police Superintendent Col. Ann C. Assumpico said. After Salah failed a series of field sobriety tests, Assumpico said she was taken to state police headquarters, where her blood alcohol content was measured at .411 — more than five times the state’s legal limit of .08.

Salah was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense, with a blood alcohol content greater than .15, which carries a $500 fine, 20 to 60 hours of community service or a year in prison, state police said. Her driver’s license will also be suspended for at least three months and she will be required to receive alcohol counseling.

She was released into the custody of her parents and will appear in court on April 6.
