Haverhill man charged after 2 stabbed near pub

A Haverhill man faces two counts of attempted murder, accused of stabbing two men outside a Haverhill pub early yesterday morning, prosecutor­s said.

Hayden Delafuente, 21, was arrested and charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to a statement from the Essex District Attorney’s Office.

Delafuente is expected to be arraigned tomorrow in Haverhill District Court.

Authoritie­s said Delafuente stabbed two men about 1:30 a.m. outside the Barking Dog Ale House on Washington Street yesterday.

A 28-year-old man from Lawrence was airlifted to Boston where he remained in critical condition yesterday afternoon.

A second victim, a 30-year-old man of Salem, N.H., was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatenin­g at Lawrence General Hospital.

The incident remains under investigat­ion, authoritie­s said.
