Methuen teen arrested in shooting
A teenager has been arrested in connection with the shooting of another juvenile Saturday afternoon in Methuen.
Methuen police Chief Joseph Solomon said the 17-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released because of his age, was one of three juveniles who “were handling a gun” at a home on Annis Street at 4:30 p.m. Saturday when a 16-year-old boy was shot in the shoulder.
Solomon said the accuser’s injury is serious, but not life-threatening.
The 17-year-old was arrested and allegedly assaulted two police officers during his booking. He is being held on $5,000 cash bail.
He has been charged with possession of a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and assault and battery on a police officer.
Police said they did not immediately locate the firearm.
