John Linso, 52, starter for MBTA, of W. Roxbury

John “Jack” Linso of West Roxbury, an MBTA train starter, died Thurs­day of colon can­cer. He was 52.

He was a 1983 grad­u­ate of Catholic Memorial High School and also grad­u­ated from the Univer­sity of Mas­sachusetts Bos­ton.

He worked for the MBTA for 28 years.

Mr. Linso ran sev­eral Bos­ton Marathons and played hockey ev­ery week with his Kelle­her Cup team. He was an avid run­ner and swim­mer.

Hus­band of the late Katie, he is sur­vived by three sis­ters, Mary Bradley of Nor­ton, Jan­ice Badessa of Ded­ham and Ann Nash of Char­lotte, N.C.; two broth­ers, Andy and David, both of West Roxbury; and many nieces and neph­ews.

A fu­neral Mass will be cel­e­brated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Theresa of Avila Church, West Roxbury.
