John Linso, 52, starter for MBTA, of W. Roxbury
John “Jack” Linso of West Roxbury, an MBTA train starter, died Thursday of colon cancer. He was 52.
He was a 1983 graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and also graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
He worked for the MBTA for 28 years.
Mr. Linso ran several Boston Marathons and played hockey every week with his Kelleher Cup team. He was an avid runner and swimmer.
Husband of the late Katie, he is survived by three sisters, Mary Bradley of Norton, Janice Badessa of Dedham and Ann Nash of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Andy and David, both of West Roxbury; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Theresa of Avila Church, West Roxbury.
