1. A ra­di­ant floor heat­ing sys­tem is dif­fi­cult to in­stall after a floor is al­ready in place, so it is bet­ter suited for new con­struc­tion or if you are pre­pared to re­move your ex­ist­ing floors. If you have a base­ment or crawl space, how­ever, you might be able to use some of the newer prod­ucts that can be in­stalled be­tween the joists be­neath your ex­ist­ing floor.

2. Be­fore you choose a ra­di­ant floor heat­ing sys­tem, care­fully study the spec­i­fi­ca­tions of your floor cov­er­ing so that you can de­ter­mine what type of sys­tem and in­stal­la­tion will work best with­out dam­ag­ing your floor.
