Car Show at Tom B. David Air­port

Satur­day, May 28, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Pre­reg­is­tra­tion is $15; at the gate, $20. All pro­ceeds will spon­sor Re­deemed Youth Group for Col­lide 2016. 50/50 draw­ing, tro­phies, door prizes, food, mu­sic and more! 50/50 tick­ets $1 each or 6 for $5. The 7th an­nual Fair­mount United Me­mo­rial Day Fes­ti­val and 5-k Run

Mon­day, May 30 at Tate Park in Fair­mount. Regis­tra­tion for the 5-k be­gins at 8 a.m. and the run starts at Tate Park at 9 a.m. Awards will be given for each age group male and fe­male along with Over­all Win­ners, Mas­ter and Grand Mas­ter win­ners. This is part of the Run and See Ge­or­gia Grand Prix se­ries.

The Clas­sic Amer­i­can Ride Club will be host­ing the An­tique Car Show. Car regis­tra­tion is from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. $20 per car. Car Show win­ners will be an­nounced at 1:30 p.m.

The Me­mo­rial Day Fes­ti­val be­gins at 10 a.m. and runs un­til 3 p.m. with mu­sic, food and craft ven­dors. For chil­dren, there will be trac­tor rides, log roll, rock climb­ing, in­flat­a­bles, a pet­ting zoo and much more. Cost per child is $10 for a day pass. No fam­ily will pay more than $40 for larger fam­i­lies.

Live pro­fes­sional wrestling will also be on site, on­go­ing all day.

At 2 p.m., WWII vet­eran Al­ton Caden­head will de­liver a mov­ing salute to vet­er­ans.

Me­mo­rial Day Blue­grass Fes­ti­val

Mon­day, May 30 at the Oostanaula Com­mu­nity Cen­ter lo­cated at 1595 Oostanaula Bend Road in Cal­houn. Gate ad­mis­sion is $5. A light break­fast will be served start­ing at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. with an en­trée, veg­eta­bles, dessert and drink for $6. A raf­fle for a Moss­berg Model 500 12 gauge pump shot­gun will be held at 6 p.m. Tick­ets are $1 each or six for $5. Door prizes and cake­walk will also be held through­out the event. Bands start play­ing at 11 a.m. Amer­i­can Le­gion Paul Gwin Post # 47 Me­mo­rial Day Cer­e­mony The Amer­i­can Le­gion Paul Gwin Post #47, lo­cated on West Line Street in Cal­houn, will be hold­ing a spe­cial Me­mo­rial Day Cer­e­mony on Mon­day, May 30 be­gin­ning at 11 a.m. Com­man­der Bill Dempsey will ad­dress at­ten­dees and per­form a wreath cer­e­mony and a flag re­tir­ing cer­e­mony. Af­ter­wards, ham­burg­ers, hot­dogs and sides will be served.
