CES learns that science is fun

- Staff Reports

Third grade student’s love having a dedicated science segment in their day. Their first units of study have been about magnets and the scientific method. Students planned and conducted an experiment, testing out how fast they could sort a pile of plastic beads from steel paper clips in two ways by hand and by using a magnet. They collected and analyzed data, and all groups found that they could sort the objects faster using a magnet. They later learned that the reason the magnet helped was that it attracted the paper clips, which were made of steel (a product of iron) while the beads were made of plastic. Allyson Valencia and Noah Schutz are shown conducting their experiment.
