Local Shaw plants give donations to two community organizations.
In ceremonies this spring, representatives from Shaw Plants D4 and D8 in Calhoun presented two local organizations - The Harris Radiation Therapy Center ( HRC) and Coulter Hampton Foundation - with two checks for a combined total of more than $ 5,000. The donations were raised from the sale of breast cancer awareness t- shirts last October.
HRC provides care and support for cancer patients and their families while the Coulter Hampton Foundation offers assistance to families of children with chronic or terminal illnesses.
“This is the fifth year the Calhoun facilities have participated in breast cancer awareness month activities, and we hope that 2017 will be an even more successful year,” said Teresa Thornbrough, Sr. Human Resources manager at Plant D4.
