Ri­ley plays well at Auburn; Lamb helps lead App. State rally

Sev­eral for­mer lo­cal foot­ball stand­outs have gone on to the next level to play col­lege foot­ball and many are mak­ing an im­pact for their teams this sea­son.

More than 30 play­ers that grad­u­ated from ei­ther Cal­houn, Gordon Cen­tral or Sono­rav­ille can be found on col­lege foot­ball rosters through­out the na­tion, and sev­eral of those saw ac­tion in their team’s most re­cent game.

Here’s a roundup of the for­mer lo­cal play­ers who ap­peared in the box score and how they did last week:

KAELAN RI­LEY Mercer, Cal­houn

Ri­ley threw for 146 yards and a touch­down on 20-of-32 passes in the Bears’ 24-10 loss at Auburn last Satur­day. The red­shirt-fresh­man start­ing quar­ter­back also ran for 16 yards on four at­tempts.

TAY­LOR LAMB Ap­palachian State, Cal­houn

Lamb threw for 167 yards on 17-of-28 passes with one touch­down in the Moun­taineers’ 20-13 come­back win at Texas State last Satur­day in their Sun Belt Con­fer­ence opener. The red­shirt-se­nior start­ing quar­ter­back also ran for 42 yards on five car­ries.

THOMAS LESTER West Geor­gia, Cal­houn

Lester had one catch for 20 yards in the Wolves’ 17-7 loss at Delta State last Satur­day. The ju­nior re­ceiver also played on spe­cial teams and recorded a solo tackle.

CHAN­DLER CUR­TIS Mercer, Cal­houn

Cur­tis, a se­nior wide re­ceiver, caught two passes for six yards in Mercers’ 24-10 loss at Auburn last Satur­day.

SE­BAS­TIAN WILLER Geor­gia State, Cal­houn

Willer, a red­shirt-se­nior, started at right tackle in the Pan­thers’ 56-0 loss at Penn State last Satur­day.

NOAH DAVEN­PORT Lime­stone Col­lege, Cal­houn

Daven­port, a fresh­man, started at left guard in the Saints’ 30-23 over­time win at home over Tus­cu­lum last Satur­day.

DREW McEN­TYRE The Citadel, Cal­houn

McEn­tyre, a sopho­more, started at right tackle in the Bull­dogs’ 31-25 vic­tory at East Ten­nessee State last Satur­day.

TRIS­TAN FULLER Se­wa­nee, Cal­houn

Fuller had one solo tackle and seven as­sists for a to­tal of eight in the Tigers’ 29-17 win at Austin Col­lege last Satur­day. The ju­nior de­fen­sive line­man had a half a sack and a tack­le­for-loss among his stops.

AUSTIN STOUT Mon­roe Col­lege, Cal­houn

Stout, a fresh­man, started at right guard in the Mus­tangs’ 45-3 vic­tory at Wag­ner Col­lege JV last Sun­day.

DJ PRATHER Chat­tanooga, Gordon Cen­tral

Prather, a se­nior de­fen­sive line­man, had one quar­ter­back hit in the Mocs’ 21-7 home loss to UT-Martin last Satur­day.

MAR­CUS (MJ) REYNOLDS Lane Col­lege, Gordon Cen­tral

Reynolds, a ju­nior quar­ter­back, ran for 71 yards on eight car­ries with a long of 29 in the Dragons’ 30-21 loss at Bene­dict Col­lege last Satur­day.

TRENT FRIX Geor­gia, Cal­houn

Frix, a se­nior, han­dled long-snap­ping du­ties for the Bull­dogs in their 42-14 home win over Sam­ford in Athens last Satur­day.

DREW McCRACKEN Ken­ne­saw State, Cal­houn

McCracken, a ju­nior, han­dled long-snap­ping du­ties for the Owls in their 20-14 win at Alabama State last Satur­day.

AUSTIN BYRD Ken­ne­saw State, Cal­houn

Byrd, a red­shirt-ju­nior tight end, par­tic­i­pated but didn’t record any stats in the Owls’ 20-14 win at Alabama State last Satur­day.

LANDON RICE Mis­sis­sippi Gulf Coast, Cal­houn

Rice, a fresh­man tight end, par­tic­i­pated but didn’t record any stats in the Bull­dogs’ 21-14 win at Copiah-Lin­coln Com­mu­nity Col­lege last Thurs­day.
