The Calhoun First Presbyterian Church, located at 829 Redbud Road in Calhoun, will be selling hundreds of pumpkins again this year.

“We will be receiving pumpkins for our annual pumpkin patch on September 29,” says church member Judy Greeson. “The church receives its shipment of pumpkins from the Navajo Indian Reservation, a 1200acre plateau in Farmington, New Mexico that employs more than 700 Native Americans.”

Several varieties of pumpkins in different sizes, shapes and colors will be delivered on Friday, Sept. 29. The church will begin selling to the public throughout October.

Approximately 70 percent of the proceeds go back to Pumpkin Patch USA and the Navajo Indian Nation.

“So many people come together to help with the pumpkin patch,” Greeson says. “Students from Ashworth Middle School, along with Gordon Central High School’s FFA help unload more than 4,000 pumpkins.”

Along with pumpkins, the church will also sell corn stalks, wheat straw, gourds, boiled peanuts, Ellijay fried apple pies, ad mums of assorted size and colors.

The church invites members of the community throw the kids in the car, stop by, shop and take some fall photos. It’s for a great cause. For more information, call CFPC at 706- 629- 4304.
