Big Week at the North­west Ge­or­gia Re­gional Fair

Wil­liams and the Re­serve Grand Cham­pion Market Lamb was shown by Emma Long.

The Beef Cat­tle Heifer and Steer Shows took place on Fri­day, Septem­ber 15. Par­tic­i­pat­ing in these shows were 15 ex­hibitors in grades 4-12 show­ing a total of 21 head of steers and heifers. Win­ning their re­spec­tive show­man­ship classes were:

Grades 4-6: Blaine Terry, Floyd County 4-H

Grades 7-8: County 4-H

Grades 9- 10: Olivia Gor­don County 4-H

Grades 11-12: Brett Dyer, Dade County 4-H

In this year’s steer show, Brett Dyer ex­hib­ited the Grand Cham­pion Steer. The heifer show was split into two di­vi­sions, Reg­is­tered and Com­mer­cial. Win­ning Grand Cham­pion Com­mer­cial Heifer was Gabrielle Jones and Re­serve Grand Cham­pion was ex­hib­ited by Kylie Hurd. Win­ning the Grand Cham­pion Reg­is­tered Heifer was Olivia Tierce and hav­ing the Re­serve Grand Cham­pion Reg­is­tered Heifer went to Brent McDaniel. End­ing the show was the se­lec­tion of the Over­all Grand Cham­pion and Over­all Re­serve Grand Cham­pion; those honors went to Olivia Tierce and Brent McDaniel.

The fi­nal show of the fair was the swine show, held on Satur­day, Septem­ber 16th. Thirty-five youth ex­hib­ited fifty- four pigs in the show. Win­ning their grade level show­man­ship class were: Lexi Terry, Floyd Tierce,

Grades 4-6: Levi Cantrell, Gilmer County 4-H

Grades 7- 8: Pick­ens FFA

Grades 9- 10: Tay­lor Dob­son, Pick­ens FFA

Grades 11- 12: Brady Car­ney, Cal­houn High FFA

The hog show was split into two di­vi­sions: market hog and breed­ing gilt. Thirty- seven hogs were shown in the market hog show, while sev­en­teen hogs were shown Kelsie Han­cock, in the breed­ing gilt show. Grand Cham­pion Market Hog honors went to Macken­zie Cof­fey and Re­serve Grand Cham­pion Market Hog was shown by Brady Car­ney. The Grand Cham­pion Breed­ing Gilt was ex­hib­ited by Tay­lor Dob­son and Re­serve Grand Cham­pion Breed­ing Gilt was shown by Brady Car­ney.
