The Alzheimer’s Association will host a Caregiver Workshop from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Calhoun Seventh-day Adventist Church. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to learn from Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Susan Greene. Susan will present The Basics – Memory Loss, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease. The workshop provides caregivers of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias an opportunity to interact with other family caregivers. The program is free and includes lunch. Registration is required. TALLATOONA BEGINS LIHEAP HEATING ASSISTANCE. Nov. 1 is the date Tallatoona will begin accepting appointments for the heating assistance program. MOMS Club of Calhoun is a new local chapter of an international nonprofit group. MOMS Club is a support group designed for the at-home mother of today. Membership is open to all moms who live in Gordon County. Events are scheduled weekdays during the day and children are welcome at all events. Mothers of any age children are welcome. The goals of the group are to provide a support group for mothers who choose to stay at home to raise their children, provide a forum for topics of interest to all mothers, to help children in the community and perform at least one service project yearly helping needy children.
