On Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018 at approximately 4 p. m., officers with t he Adairsville Police Department were dispatched to Patty’s Truck Stop, located at 940 Hwy 140 NW in Adairsville, in reference to a male subject asking customers for money.

Upon arriving at the location, officers made contact with a male subject, later identified as Gregg Swatkowski, 49, last known address being in Windermere, Fla. Officers noticed Swatkowski wearing what appeared to be hospital clothing and also observed a hospital wrist band on his right wrist.

Swatkowski told the officers he was driving a Cadillac Deville and had a flat tire on the interstate, so he stopped to get it repaired. Officers ran a record check on the license plate and 911 advised the vehicle was stolen out of Roswell.

Officers placed Swatkowski under arrest for theft by receiving stolen property. Officers then contacted the hospital on the wrist band. The hospital, which is located in Fulton County, advised the officers Swatkowski had been evaluated and released earlier this date. The vehicle was impounded and Swatkowski was transported to the Bartow County Jail without incident.
