Although Dakota Peo­ples is the youngest of 10 sib­lings, be­ing first seems to have come nat­u­rally for the Cape Co­ral teen. In her first at­tempt at a ti­tle, Dakota won the 2014 Miss Teen Earth Florida crown. It was her or­ganic beauty, ease and pres­ence that brought at­ten­tion to the judges and the pageantry cir­cuit. She went on to win other pageants, in­clud­ing the 2015 Miss Teen Amer­i­can Beauty ti­tle. She will pur­sue a ca­reer in fash­ion and film. But as hap­pens, things be­gan with tim­ing. “My hair­dresser was in the same build­ing as the Miss Teen Earth Florida pageant direc­tor and we got to talk­ing, and she said you should en­ter the pageant,” Dakota says. “I said, sure, why not?” Su­san Peo­ples said ex­pec­ta­tions for her daugh­ter in the Miss Teen Earth Florida pageant were not high.
