School Spirit Recap
Teacher assistant, Lana Sharp shared, “I learned about the Readers Reach Out School Spirit campaign and wanted to share my story.
During a study hall period, the students and I were discussing a “Spread Christmas Cheer” idea and came up with a plan to make Christmas cards for our entire high school staff and students. The students got permission from our principal and the plan was a “Go!” That weekend I talked with a friend who makes cards. She had learned of our plan from her daughters and volunteered to help the students with this project and donated the supplies that we'd need. The excitement spread like wildfire. The students really enjoyed making the Christmas cards!
On the day of delivery—right before the Christmas break—“Santa,” in his red suit and white beard, along with his “elves” arrived to handdeliver his bag full of 710 handmade cards! This was a great memory and the staff and students were so appreciative to receive the cards. My students were able to witness for themselves that it is better to give than to receive.”
