MEET THE DESIGNER: JULIANA MICHAELS
Sending Hugs & Kisses
Juliana Michaels began her career in the paper-craft and scrapbook industry in 2007, but she has been creating since she was a child. Her artistic talent shines through in the cards she’s designed for
CardMaker along with her work for various manufacturers in the industry. As a former design team member for the CardMaker blog, she has contributed many beautiful projects for our readers and continues to inspire with the cards she shares with us! Juliana also has her own blog, www.17turtles. com; you’ll want to make sure to visit and sign up for her weekly email where she shares ideas, tips and techniques along with free digital cut files! We’re excited to feature Juliana in this issue and hope you’ll enjoy learning more about this gifted artist!
Please tell us a little bit about yourself and
how you got started creating cards: I grew up in a creative household loving art, design and making things with my hands. I give all the credit for my creativity to my multitalented mom, who loved to paint, sew and draw. My mom also photographed our daily lives and kept all of these photos stored and displayed in photo albums. Nearly 15 years ago I found my true passion in paper crafting and scrapbooking. I have been a project designer in the paper-craft/ scrapbook industry since 2007 and I’ve been fortunate to work for many top manufacturers including: Bo-Bunny, Bella BLVD, Elle’s Studio, SRM Stickers, Provo Craft, Pebbles Inc., Therm O Web Inc. and Jillibean Soup. My projects have been published in a variety of magazines and idea books, and I’ve had projects displayed at the Craft & Hobby Association Trade Show. Most recently I started a new journey in my creative career and fulfilled a lifelong dream to create graphics and product design as a graphic artist for Jillibean Soup. I’m married to Danny, my best friend and the love of my life. I’m also mom to two golden retrievers named Lincoln and Shirley, and an American Paint Horse named Woody. I have a fondness for coffee, Mexican food, turtles and antiquing. In my spare time I love crafting, card making, scrapbooking, playing with Lincoln and Shirley, enjoying the outdoors, and reading science and historical fiction.
