Ribbon Alphabet

CardMaker - - Hand Lettering For Cards - Lettering and project by Nancy Burke

This alphabet can either be drawn following a baseline or freestyle with letters slightly below or above the adjacent letter. Practice first by drawing on a baseline and then, when comfortable, experiment with letter placement.

1. Lightly draw basic script lowercase letters. Be sure to leave enough space between each letter so that you have plenty of room to widen letter lines and add decorative details.

2. Go back over your letter lines, widening, intersecting and crossing them as shown. Draw “notches” at the ends of your widened lines to simulate notched ribbon ends.

3. Trace over lines with a fine-point permanent pen or marker. Erase original pencil lines.

4. Using two or more colors of markers, watercolor or regular pencils, shade in all areas of the letters, alternating colors. ●
