• Be pa­tient and re­mem­ber this is a process. Give small amounts of in­for­ma­tion at a time

• Use words ap­pro­pri­ate to the child’s age and vo­cab­u­lary

• Al­low them to ask any ques­tions they want

• Ask them if there was any­thing you said that scared them or didn’t make sense

• Lis­ten to their con­cerns

• Let them feel in­cluded in the fight against the can­cer

• Re­as­sure them of your love
