The San Francisco Valley 4H Club held their monthly meeting at the Glenwood Community Center March 12, 2013. To begin the meeting, Tonya Lorentzen gave a speech on recycling. After, Brock Powell told us about a leadership training put together by the Catron County Council. It will be March 29th, noon to three o’clock, at the Reserve High School. All Catron County 4-H Club officers are welcome. Mr. Drummond will give training to adult leaders at the same time and place.

We then planned our booth at the Dutch Oven Cook-Off. The Cook-Off will be April 6 at the Glenwood Park. Our club will sell soda, lemonade, iced tea, water, baked goods, can- dy, and popsicles.

After the meeting, we had four people give demonstrations. Alex Hemmer told us about the main ingredients of cakes. Maegan Simpson taught us about the history of cakes, some types of cakes, cake ingredients, altitude adjustments for cakes, and common problems for cakes. Brittani Faust told us how she shears her goat for the Catron County Fair. Levi Simpson demonstrated how to put together a hunting survival pack.
