New Ranger in Glen­wood

A new District Ranger has been ap­pointed to serve on the Glen­wood Ranger District, Gila Na­tional For­est. “I am glad to an­nounce that Deb­bie Cress has been se­lected as the new District Ranger,” says For­est Su­per­vi­sor Kelly Rus­sell.

Af­ter earn­ing her Bach­e­lor of Science de­gree in Range Science from NM State Univer­sity, she worked for 10 years on the front range of Colorado be­fore re­turn­ing to the For­est Ser­vice as a veg­e­ta­tion and range­land man­age­ment spe­cial­ist, NEPA project man­ager, and sea- sonal Fire Pub­lic In­for­ma­tion Of­fi­cer. Cress’ For­est Ser­vice ca­reer started as a sea­sonal em­ployee on the Ci­bola NF in Grants.

She was born in Dem­ing, NM and raised near Hills­boro in a fam­ily with a long his­tory of farm­ing and ranch­ing. While on the Gila, she and her hus­band will pur­sue their in­ter­est in en­joy­ing hik­ing, ca­noe­ing, back­pack­ing, camp­ing, and trav­el­ing to scenic lo­ca­tions. Cress re­places Pat Mor­ri­son, Glen­wood District Ranger who is re­tir­ing in Jan­uary.
