New Ranger in Glenwood
A new District Ranger has been appointed to serve on the Glenwood Ranger District, Gila National Forest. “I am glad to announce that Debbie Cress has been selected as the new District Ranger,” says Forest Supervisor Kelly Russell.
After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Range Science from NM State University, she worked for 10 years on the front range of Colorado before returning to the Forest Service as a vegetation and rangeland management specialist, NEPA project manager, and sea- sonal Fire Public Information Officer. Cress’ Forest Service career started as a seasonal employee on the Cibola NF in Grants.
She was born in Deming, NM and raised near Hillsboro in a family with a long history of farming and ranching. While on the Gila, she and her husband will pursue their interest in enjoying hiking, canoeing, backpacking, camping, and traveling to scenic locations. Cress replaces Pat Morrison, Glenwood District Ranger who is retiring in January.
