11th Annual Health Fair
On April 26, 2014, White Mountain Regional Hospital again did the cholesterol and PSA screenings and along with their sleep lab, and physical therapy center. The Flight for Life helicopter, who has always attended, was grounded due to the wind and was unable to make it this year, but did send a representative. Dr. Arizaga, a dermatologist, screened a large number of people for skin cancer. PMS, Cancer, DWI, Grassroots, were there, as well as the Sheriffs Office and State Police, Fire Department, the EMS (who did oximetry and blood pressure) with their Ambulance.
There were free haircuts and massages, as well as free breakfast, A Storyteller. A Silent Auction, with prizes donated by community members as well as the presenters was held. The money raised goes to a scholarship given to one Senior in both Reserve and Quemado going into a health field.
Other presenters, just as important, were LEPC, Gila Hospice, Blue Cross Blue Shield, PMS Health Exchange, Department of Health, Reserve Village Library, Cactus Company, Food Preparation, Adult Protective Services, Sunrise Air, Senator Heinrich’s representative, Life Quest, Blue Moon Herbs, Dr. Vickie Hornbuckle.
The Catron County Health Council would like to thank all of the presenters and the volunteers for their time, as well as all the information that was handed out.
