Letter from the Editor
As noted in the Catron Commissioner meeting notes, the Commissioners drafted a letter to send regarding the Santolina development that is planned for Bernalillo county, stating that they would oppose sending any water from Catron County to this development. The Pueblo of Isleta has also come out in opposition to the development.
For anyone interested in learning more about the Santolina development, which starts with a 38,000 home development that may pull water from outside Bernalillo county, a story was recently published in The Guardian and can be found online at: www.theguardian.com/ cities/2015/may/19/barclayscity-new-mexico-desertsantolina-urban-sprawlalbuquerque#comments
New Mexico citizens can also voice any concerns by calling the Bernalillo Commissioners (Chair Maggie Hart Stebbins, Debbie O'Malley, Wayne Johnson, Lonnie Talbert, and Art Delacruz) at 505 -468-7000, or you can email Catherine VerEecke at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Bernalillo Commissioners are expected to make a decision on the development this June.
