Billy John Arm­strong, 84, passed away Sunday, Jan­uary 10, 2016 in Que­mado. He was born August 6, 1931 in Knott, Texas, the son of Sid­ney Ulysses and Edna Mae Fletcher Arm­strong.

Bill had eight si­b­lings; Ray­mond, Jake, Mon­tie, Harlen, Calvin, L.D., Louise and Wynon. All have pre­ceded him in death. Bill moved from Texas with his fam­ily when he was three years old in 1934. They moved 8 miles north of Que­mado onto prop­erty that some of the fam­ily still owns.

Bill was an Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a dea­con in the

Que­mado Bap­tist Church for many years. He was also a busi­ness­man, store owner and me­chanic and had the only wrecker ser­vice for miles around. Bill also vol­un­teered for the Que­mado Fire Dept. and was Fire Chief for some time. He helped or­ga­nize a Boy Scout group in Que­mado that was ac­tive for a while. He loved tak­ing the boys camp­ing and loved his fam­ily and be­ing out­doors.

Bill has left be­hind his lov­ing wife of 60 plus years, Bon­nie Brown Arm­strong, five chil­dren, Carl­ton (Marita), Clif­ford (Dawn), Grover (Terri), Jerry (Yvonne) and Ver­lene (Greg) Baca; fif­teen grand­chil­dren, Jeremy (Rachel) Arm­strong, Dustin (Ricki) Arm­strong, Emily (Justin) Gos­sett, Mar­riedachaire Gar­cia and part­ner Melvin, Marissa Gar­cia, Manuel Gar­cia and part­ner Zil­lisa, Alea Gar­cia-Arm­strong, Kristi (Andy) Turner, Jesse Arm­strong, Tyler Arm­strong and part­ner Nakita Ham­mer, Ken­dal (Amanda) Arm­strong, Randa (Felix) Valle­jas, Sheena Arm­strong, Amanda Cox and part­ner Daniel Har­ris and Billy Baca; twenty great­grand­chil­dren, numer­ous nieces, neph­ews and great nieces and great neph­ews.

A Fu­neral Ser­vice was held Fri­day, Jan­uary 15, 2016 at the Que­mado High School. In­ter­ment fol­lowed the Fu­neral Ser­vices at the Que­mado Com­mu­nity Ceme­tery.
