Six elementary students’ poems were selected for the Creative Communication Poetry contest. The poems this year were haiku.

A haiku is a short, nonrhyming poem consisting of three lines in which the first and third lines have five syllables and the second line has seven syllables. This type of poem presents a challenge because they are difficult to compose.

The six students were from the third and fourth grades. The third grade students are: Jack George-Womack, Andrew Mathis and Jessica Lamb and are students of Mrs. Maldonaldo. The fourth grade students are: Raeann Bruton, Emilio Jake and Kolbee Orona. These three students are in Mr. Thomas’ class. The students’ poems will be published in the Creative Communication Anthology. Congratulations to all of the students. Good job!
