Head­ing to Rodeo Fi­nals

Lo­cal stu­dents Jake South and Cha­zlin LeSueur earned a po­si­tion on the New Mex­ico state Na­tional High School rodeo team and will be trav­el­ling with other team­mates to Gil­lette, WY to com­pete at the 68th An­nual Na­tional High School Fi­nals Rodeo in Team Rop­ing, July 17-23.

Jake South is from Horse Springs and just grad­u­ated. Cha­zlin LeSueur lives in San Aca­cia, is go­ing to be a ju­nior and has grand­par­ents who live in Re­serve.

The rodeo fea­tures more than 1650 con­tes­tants from 43 states, as well as from Canada and Aus­tralia, mak­ing it the world’s largest rodeo.

Con­tes­tants are com­pet­ing for over $200,000 in prize money, $350,000 in schol­ar­ships, and the chance to be called NHSFR World Cham­pion. The Satur­day cham­pi­onships will be broad­cast on RFD-TV on July 17 at 9AM and 7PM, with broad­casts through July 23.
